“Be the change you want to see in the world.” -Mahatma Ghandi
When I first heard that quote, I thought to myself, ‘Yea! That’s how you’re supposed to live your life Em! Be the way you want the rest of the world to be.”
However, I had no clue how to do that. What’s a teenager living in suburbia Long Island supposed to know about happiness, peace, success, abundance and rich meaningful connections with others?
At age 18 I had existential angst!
As an undergraduate student I stumbled on a course called Creativity and Personal Mastery which answered my burning desire to learn something other than facts and reasoning.
I recognized that most things in the world came with instruction manuals. Best ways to care for your car, how to program a VCR, how to write and effective letter… but rarely does someone teach you how to live an optimal life, not to mention give you a manual.
I spent the next four years learning from Prof. Rao all about this Personal Mastery stuff. A combination of Eastern Philosophies, Western Psychologies, Physics, Philosophy and just plain common sense. His course transformed my life and I recognized that my passion, my purpose in this world is to help others create lasting meaningful change in their lives.
I went on to get my master’s degree in positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and continued to study the conditions and techniques that people could use to create a life where they are beaming with joy for the honor of living it.
I work with people individually as a coach and consultant or in groups as a speaker and facilitator. I teach an integrative approach towards flourishing that takes the whole individual into account. Visit my website to learn about upcoming programs and events www.emiliya.com.

Emiliya,
First of all I love what you write. Second of all, I’m very interested in the field of Positive Psychology. I have written about Tal Ben Shahar’s class for TheStreet.com. I would love the opportunity to meet you in person if you have some time. I look forward to hearing from you.
